The catalyst is used for steam reforming of natural gas in tubular furnaces of the ammonia and methanol plants.

The catalyst is the promoted nickel oxide on the heat-resistant porous spherical corundum support with seven channels.

The unique catalyst shape allows reducing significantly pressure drop across the tubular furnace, decreasing tubes temperature, increasing production rate. Spherical catalyst can easily be loaded to the furnace tubes forming highly homogeneous bed with goodheat and mass transfer. Catalyst bed moves as liquid when tubes become narrow on their cooling down.
